Tech which makes Sense

The holidays can be deadly for your diet. Christmas can be difficult, but Valentine’s Day is coming very soon. Just when you think it’s safe, Easter comes bounding down the path.

And that is now. Easter candy abounds and those tiny candies and giant eggs are calling your name. To do?
There are many great ways to avoid the temptation of sweets during the holidays. Here are the top three:

If you have to buy candy for baskets and treats, buy candy that you don’t like to eat. This may seem like a no-brainer, but you may be tempted to buy a certain type of candy “because the kids like it” when the reality is that they will be happy with any type of candy because it is candy. If chocolate is your kryptonite, don’t buy it. Don’t you like jelly beans? That’s what you should buy. There is less chance that you will abuse it.

Freeze the candy. If you have to buy candy for baskets or for work treats or baking, freeze the excess. It’s true that you can eat frozen chocolate or let it thaw, but if it’s in the freezer (preferably in a drawer and out of sight when you open the freezer doors) you’ll be less likely to eat it.

Find your motivation. Many dieters find that a good quote they can keep on a loop in their mind helps them avoid temptation. If you have a sweet tooth and find it hard to resist sweets like candy, your motivational quote might be “nothing tastes as good as feeling skinny.” If you’re tempted to sample a bit and not count points, keep this in mind: “Your body keeps an accurate journal of what you eat, regardless of what you write down.”

It can be hard to be good when there are so many tempting treats out there, but if you remind yourself of what’s important and apply a few sneaky tips, you’re sure to avoid temptation—until the next candy-filled vacation.
