The 2 largest welding companies are Miller Welding and Craft Welding. Miller started out as a welding company and due to their success they are now a manufacturer of almost every tool on the market and Craft Welding was the complete opposite, they started out as hand tools like screwdrivers, wrenches and hammers etc. but they saw how much money was put into welding so they started manufacturing welding as well and now 65% of their annual revenue comes from welding materials. “We taught that we were making big money until we moved into welding manufacturing, that’s when we made money, 65% of our revenue comes from quality welding equipment” (O’shea, Craft). So with these companies and other small businesses expanding every day, it shows how important manufacturing is to the world, it brings a lot of jobs and business opportunities to a lot of people. Welding is a billion dollar business. Miller has become such a sought-after company now that large automakers like Volkswagen and Ford have attempted to buy shares in the company just because it would save money on equipment, since 87% of a car’s manufacturing tools they are some kind of a welding tool.

Many countries have gone sour over the years due to the welding trade but mainly Ireland in the last 10 years has had a boom in the welding trade in a rural town called Dundalk two big companies have been opened called ABB and Duffy Coachbuilders and with these 2 factories open they have given work to more than half of the town. ABB is just a welding factory that produces paper machines that are made of 100% metal and all of this has to be welded to shape. “On average we have 2,000 people working in this single factory and 85% of them are qualified in the welding trade, that shows how important welding is for this company that hand-makes paper mills that make paper so that students can learn and people can have businesses” (Paddy Nolan).

Nolan, who is the head of welding at the ABB factory, has a real passion for his job as it gave him a good career and helped make the world a better place. Duffys is a coach factory where they build buses, limousines and Hursts all of these have chassis which again are made of metal and without welding they would not be as strong and again they do a lot of work for welders. Each bus starts from thousands of pieces and is assembled and finally welded together to make it as strong and safe as possible. These two companies that are American now facilitate the export to Europe and therefore help the world to export and exchange more easily.
