Tech which makes Sense

Used Volvo cars like the S40 and V40 have a European flavor of design. I find that the famous Swedish car manufacturer has a unique design for all its models and this differentiates its style from other car companies that they compete with. When Ford Motor Company decided to buy Swedish Car Company in the late 1990s, early 2000s, they had a different vision of what they wanted their vehicles to look like. Gone were the days of looking at Volvo models designed like a shoebox.

Used Volvo S40 Cars:

Ford wanted its Volvo operations to develop a car that could compete in the North American compact market. When both models were officially launched in 2000, the Volvo used a 1.9-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Some of the bad reviews I’ve seen on various websites suggest that the engine isn’t powerful enough, it lacks the speed to compete against the likes of a BMW 3 Series or a Mercedes-Benz C Class. The only thing I got when I researched about this particular brand was how these used Volvo cars have great fuel stats.

I found a couple of fuel stats for the years 2000 and 2004. In 2000 the Volvo S40 and V40 had 10.5 liters per 100 km for city driving and 6.6 liters per 100 km for highway driving. In 2004 it had fuel ratings of 10.9 liters per 100 km for city driving and 7.3 liters per 100 km for highway driving. If there is a reason to like or buy one of these Volvo models, it is because you save by refueling the car at the gas station.

Let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons of the Volvo S40 and V40.

1- There is a problem with a loud noise coming from the front wheel suspension.

2- It has only been giving an average rating as a used car by several leading automotive websites.

3- There is a problem with the climate control module that has the fan stopped or only running on one speed.

4- It has been giving a good rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety organization, for the frontal crash test that it did.

Used Volvo cars like the S40 and V40 are an average car at best, I don’t see anything to suggest it’s a great used car.
