To be more precise, it is not the train itself that interests us, but the route it follows. You’ll be traveling through areas including Jackson Heights and Flushing Meadows on this train, so if you’re itching to see some of the diversity that makes up this city, this is one of the best ways to do it. Be sure to get off at some of the stops to explore the areas if you have time.

Flushing Meadows and Corona Park

Whenever you think of the parks around central New York hotels, you probably instantly think of Central Park. However, this is not the only park that the city has to offer. Corona Park is famous for very good reasons, not the least of which is the fact that the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is located here. This is where the Grand Slam tennis event, the US Open, takes place every year around August and September. Apart from tennis, you can enjoy the wide open spaces and also visit the Queens Zoo. It is a wonderful day for the whole family.

The Transit Museum

Visiting the Big Apple can be a very expensive process. Fortunately, however, not all attractions require an entrance fee. The New York Transit Museum is free to enter and is located in Grand Central Terminal. If you are staying in one of the downtown New York hotels, you should make time to see this fascinating museum, even more so if you have children with you.
