Tech which makes Sense

Sony Ericson has recently launched a TV advertising campaign in the UK for the Vivaz. One of the latest smartphones from the manufacturer, this attractive phone boasts impressive technology ranging from an 8.1-megapixel camera to Wi-Fi Internet connectivity, complete with a stunning HD display.

Vivaz users are alerted to incoming calls and messages through a combination of vibration and ringing with the option to use MP3 music files as ringtones. This allows the phone to be customized so that users can listen to a track of their choice every time the phone rings. A speakerphone and 3.5mm audio jack are provided for hands-free chatting.

As mentioned, the Vivaz is equipped with a built-in digital camera that boasts an impressive 8.1 megapixels. Obviously, with such a high pixel count, the camera can take very high-quality images. The camera software includes various image enhancement features, ranging from autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, and face and smile detection. By using these features, taking quality photos is a piece of cake. Of course, the camera can also record video, and this is in 720p quality at a rate of 24 frames per second.

As you would expect from a phone of this caliber, several useful features are included as standard. These range from a versatile media player that supports all common music and video file formats. Social networking apps provide access to Facebook and Twitter so users can stay up to date with friends and family and instantly access these sites to share their thoughts with the world. Another useful feature is the integration of YouTube and Picasa, which allows you to upload photos and videos taken with the phone’s built-in camera for the world to enjoy, all in a matter of seconds. The QuickOffice document reader and voice memo recording feature make Vivaz an effective productivity tool, so it will appeal to business users as well.

75 MB of internal storage is provided as standard which can store multiple photos or music tracks. A micro SD slot is also included for this purpose, which has a pre-installed 8 GB memory card. If more storage is required, this can be achieved simply by installing a memory card of up to 16 GB. The internal phonebook can store a large number of contacts and includes the popular photo session function.

Unsurprisingly, the Vivaz spares no effort when it comes to connectivity. A variety of methods are used to stay connected to cellular networks and the Internet. The class 10 versions of GPRS and EDGE are used to connect to cellular networks in all but the most isolated areas. In areas covered by 3G, an Internet connection is provided via HSDPA at speeds of 10.2 megabytes per second. Wireless Internet routers can provide a faster connection over Wi-Fi, giving you an enhanced web browsing experience.

With its impressive hardware and exciting software, this touchscreen phone ticks all the boxes, whether you’re looking for an entertainment device, a productivity gadget, or a fast web browsing tool.
