private sessions available for prenatal Pilates

Pregnancy is a time to strengthen your body for birth and beyond. Practicing Pilates during this time is one of the most highly recommended forms of exercise that will help you to handle the physical demands of pregnancy while also helping your body to function more effectively and to alleviate discomfort throughout your journey. Whether you’re starting out with Pilates as an exercise form, or if you already know and love it, we have a number of options to accommodate your pregnancy including both group classes and private sessions.

The core and pelvic floor muscles are particularly challenged during pregnancy. Prenatal Pilates East Sheen helps to balance these areas by strengthening the deep abdominal and pelvic muscles while at the same time teaching the body how to move more efficiently. This increased stability can help reduce the common back and pelvic pain associated with pregnancy as well as help your body cope with the additional weight which can put pressure on joints.

Pilates movements include stretches that increase the range of motion and flexibility in your back, hamstrings, hip flexors and abdominal muscles. This increased flexibility can help to alleviate lower back pain, improve your posture and help to prepare the body for labour by allowing for an easier transition into the sitting and standing positions that are required after the baby is born.

Are private sessions available for prenatal Pilates?

Our instructors are fully certified in Pre-Natal Pilates and can work with you to customize a workout that will fit your needs during the different trimesters of your pregnancy. If you are looking to attend a group reformer class it is important to advise your instructor of your pregnancy and to ensure they understand the limitations and precautions that should be taken with a pregnant client.

Private sessions offer the opportunity to meet with your instructor 1:1 and focus on a workout that is specific to your needs. These sessions can be done in our Potrero Hill studio or via video conference from the comfort of your home. These sessions will make use of a variety of Pilates props (magic circle, foam roller, gertie and massage balls, resistance bands & yoga blocks).

Whether you’re just starting out on your journey or you’re close to your due date our on demand library offers a program that will help you to navigate your way through all stages of pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. With new segments added monthly this is the perfect way to continue working out safely and effectively while staying connected with your instructor, other PT clients and the community.

This membership includes 4 online PT sessions that will automatically renew each month. The PT sessions are 45 minutes long and will be arranged at a time that works for you. If you would like to book an in-person session please contact the studio for availability and booking details. The PT sessions can be used as a standalone option or in conjunction with our group Reformer Pregnancy and Postpartum Classes to provide you with the support that your body needs during this unique time of your life.
