Tech which makes Sense

Why are some people successful in the world of acting and others not? Is it always due to talent or do you find that sometimes there are actors who have completed three years at prestigious drama schools and are exceptionally talented, who are stuck in a rut, or even give up, while a new actor with minimal training? and the mediocre skill is flying to the top?

This sometimes happens! Why? Have you ever watched a TV series or soap opera and thought, “There are much more talented actors out there, how did they get the job? They must be so lucky!”

No! They are out of luck.

Being successful has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with attitude. To stop being ordinary, we need to do things that ordinary people don’t do and think in a way that sets us apart from the rest. Do we need talent? Yes! But having talent alone is not enough. We need to be the kind of people others will want to work with and the kind of attitude that means success is the only option, regardless of how many setbacks we face along the way.

Successful actors have certain qualities in common. If we want to follow their path, we must constantly imitate their behaviors.

Here are some things successful actors do differently…

They are passionate about acting.

In an industry where there are far more players than there are jobs, it’s critical that we have a passion for our craft. Those seeking fame, fortune, or anything else won’t last long; they tend to get bored and give up when they realize how much work they have to do.

They have a lot of strength and determination.

Not many people can take one rejection after another, ignore it, and move on, but that’s exactly what actors must constantly do. It takes strength and determination to keep going after every setback, it takes guts to put ourselves out there as an actor to be criticized by the public, and it takes courage to keep stepping out of our comfort zone to keep going.

Patience

As the famous saying goes, it takes ten years to become an overnight success. This is real life, not a fairy tale, Steven Spielberg is highly unlikely to see us when we’re at Tesco doing the weekly shopping. It’s not going to happen overnight. It takes a long time to build relationships and a good reputation in the industry. As with other jobs, we start at the bottom and work our way up.

Trust

If we don’t believe in ourselves, why should others believe in us? We have to believe in our abilities and believe in our ability to succeed. Our confidence must be stronger than our fear so that we can move forward without fear of failure and of being held back by people’s opinions. We need confidence to be able to say yes to new challenges and no to things that don’t benefit us. It is confidence that will keep us moving forward and testing our limits.

positivity

Positive actors see the best in everything and are happy and more motivated as a result. Instead of dwelling on problems, they think of a way around them.

Actors who have a positive attitude make those around them feel good, it’s contagious! Who would you rather be on set with: the actor who complains that he is tired, cold, hungry and bored or the actor who is having a great time despite getting up at 4 am and being out all day? day in mid-November?

Willpower

Are you able to resist short-term temptations for long-term gains?

You’ve had a hard day at work and all you want to do is collapse in front of the TV. Are you still going to your acting class?

You’ve booked a night to start preparing for your role in a movie you’ve been cast in, but a friend you haven’t seen in months calls to invite you to the pub for a few drinks. You go?

After a crazy few weeks, you’re looking forward to a day off tomorrow and have planned a day of relaxation. Your agent calls you to tell you that you have an appointment for a commercial audition, in 4 hours, at 9 am that day. You go?

It’s easy to talk ourselves out of doing something we don’t feel like doing at that particular moment, but to get ahead, we must be consistent with our efforts.

they get along with people

I have known many cases where an actor was perfectly suited to a role, but was not cast because he was not easy to get along with. It’s simple: no one wants to work with a diva or someone who argues, and word gets around.

They take care of their bodies

Healthy body healthy mind. Enough talk.

They realize that there is always more to learn.

We should always strive to learn more and improve. Why settle for mediocrity when we can keep learning to be the best we can be?

Follow the instructions well.

Follow the instructions carefully. During a scene, on set, at an audition, when applying for a job… All the time! It shows professionalism and that it will be easy to work with us.

self reliance

We are in control of our own future, trust no one else. Haven’t booked a job in a while? Instead of blaming your agent, the industry, the producers, or your pet, take a look at what you might be doing to help yourself. Do you need new headshots? Are your CVs and online profiles up to date? Are you applying for your own job? networks?

Take control of your future, be consistent with the above and you will see how your career changes for the better. Do what others refuse to do and that is what will give you the advantage!
