Tech which makes Sense

The Volkswagen Touran was launched in 2003 to fill a gap in the model range under the Sharan, VW’s large minivan. The VW Touran was the first production vehicle from the Volkswagen Group to be launched with the new ParkAssist technology, detecting up to 30 km / h to determine if the Touran will fit into the parallel parking position.

In August 2010, the new VW Touran was updated with the newer Golf VI platform, which included new features such as Light-Assist for xenon headlights, an improved Park-Assist system for perpendicular parking positions, infotainment systems and improved aerodynamics.

New engines are available, the 1.2 with 77 kW (105 PS; 103 hp) and the 1.6 CommonRail TDI with 77 kW (105 PS; 103 hp); The Touran is also available as a BlueMotion model, Volkswagen’s fuel-efficient vehicle program.

Diesel engines offer higher miles per gallon readings; it can reach 60 miles per gallon in a diesel Touran under proper conditions. The Touran has a five- and six-speed manual transmission, a six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, and a dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission.

All VW Touran’s come standard with side and head airbags for the front passengers, curtain bags to provide better side protection. Anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control are also a standard setting, as well as an alarm. The Touran received a total of 5 stars in the EuroNCAP crash safety test for passenger and pedestrian safety.

The Touran has plenty of legroom for a seven-seater; the third-row seats fold down for a whopping 695-liter trunk space, which is ideal for family vacations.
